Wait...wait...stop the press...

Did they seriously just pull an anti-climax on me with TS's 8th ring??? I'll admit the scenes of him facing the Orca King's rage and being pulled under were pretty good, but they completely screwed us out of the climax. The novel's version was nearly as epic as his 7th. Being bathed in the SG's light he turns the sky red and begins influencing the sea itself, forming massive waves, which only smooth out as he walks over its surface unaided by his mom's spirit bone. And the best part was Mubai's commentary on it. He describes the realization that their competitive rivalry had come to an end--TS's genius was something he could no longer comprehend or keep pace with. But he felt no jealousy, just the pride of being one one of his best buds. Good stuff.

That said, I like that they're showing Spirit Hall's savagery. Those scenes are building the foundation for what will be very satisfying scenes when TS returns to the mainland. I'll leave it at that LOL.

BTW--I'm calling bull$hit on that Yan POS breaking through 70. Even Nana, much later in the novel was still mid 60s. No way he's at that level at this point.

Agreed and I always expect that. But cutting/editing a climactic moment of this caliber in favor of other stuff was a mistake imo. Still a fantastic adaptation. Sometimes they set the expectation bar high on themselves lol.

Exactly, the rivalry between Tang San and Mubai was a pretty big plot point, it has served to bring out the best in both parties and has led to many decisions, events and such to unfold due to this, albeit not explicitly. The ending of such, especially the recognition of it, is a highly important event in it's own rights.

Also, the savagery of Spirit Hall on the Ironsmith's Association(?) was a great view, but it was incredibly downplayed when they showed one of the guys (I'm bad at insignificant characters' names) playing a Violin or some sort of string instrument. If they had played a piece of that or something as the bgm, with the additional clashing sounds and all, it would've been an absolute masterpiece despite Douluo Dalu's questionable cgi quality.

you should check how bad this episode is on youtube. I tried to watch it right after it aired and it was basically 6-7 minutes of footage spliced from the entire episode copied twice to make it 15 mins long.

Is Nana pining after TS in the novel, like it is here?

Not specifically at this point in the novel because there were virtually no scenes of the mainland events described during the SG Trials. But yes, poor Nana definitely pines over TS in nearly every scene she's in later so the donghua here *would* be correct. She tries to hide it but is surprised/horrified when Bibi says she knew long ago LOL. Bibi goes easy on her though.

Bibidong is probably thinking that Nana, her precious disciple and heir, iirc, is similar to her, having fallen for her former flame's disciple🤔

Yup, that's what I've thought too, and might explain her leniency towards Nana. It's one of the aspects of Bibi that I liked in an otherwise under developed antagonist imo.

This is really utter BS, Yan is such an insignificant character, if Oscar was only 74 going to 75 and having spent 3 gruelling years training in Seagod island, how could Yan even come close?

What’s more, when TS kicked Qian Renxue’s ass 3 years ago and he was level 66, Yan was nowhere to be seen. If my memory serves me, Yan and XieYu have just reached level 60 (didn’t even get their 6th ring yet) when they battled TS in the forest.

Let’s assume Yan was 61 before TS left for SeaGod island, that is still a whopping 9 ranks in 3 years! Damn, TS just go back to the continent already, you’re just wasting time in the island! Lol!

You make good points, but think of how much Tang San had improved and the pace of it, despite it being explicitly said that it gets much much harder upon reaching the 50th-60th Soul Power Level...

Ok good it wasn't my imagination 😂. One of the things about the donghua I like is that they're keeping the Golden Generation 'in the picture' so to speak. I only remember a couple very brief scenes of them in the novel, post SG Trials. Ever since the donghua depicted Yan tearing off TS's spider lances at the Sacrifice (even though it wasn't him actually) I've wanted that bitch to do down HARD😂. The Sacrifice was really well done.

Lastly, I am quite curious as to what Nana, if I remember correctly, the "Saint" of the Martial Soul Empire, thinks of Tang San? It's clear she has feelings for him, but I think she is purposely calling him Tang Yin, not only because it's who she thought he was when they met and experienced plenty of things, it also gives him an identity per say, by that I mean that it is the only way for it to work, and is practically nigh impossible as Tang San😐

Extermination of Genxin City is a bit of a drivel! It didn’t happen in the novel but then again, they are going all out to highlight the villainy of Martial Soul Hall or rather Bibidong. Sometimes less is more!

If their intention is to make ppl loathe BBD, then they have achieved that. I just can’t stand her and this constant switching between the two ends of the poles. It feels like TS & co are hardly making any progress while MSH is almost done with their world domination.

One thing I have to agree with @douluo, the drama with the 8th ring is a bit overdone and in the end, it falls short of reaching the climax. Again, less is more!

But I’m hoping for a breather next week with TS vs the 5 Shrek Devils. Hopefully they didn’t sacrifice this scene in order to fit in more BBD’s! The Chinese fans are already rioting!

This is TS first time absorbing a red soul ring on his own. First one was forced onto him, 2nd one was rewarded, this time he struggled a bit. He's got more red rings than anyone so far. He can give one back to Wu and still be a complete badass.
